ROOTS AND BRANCHES

The Ring Project – Roots and Branches

Every so often, a project comes to us carrying an emotional weight and a family history that deeply moves us. We were asked to breathe new life into an old gold watch that belonged to parents who were Holocaust survivors, and to create from it a series of rings for the women of the family. Our collaborative process gave birth to a design that symbolizes a tight, interwoven bond between past and future.

Here is the story behind the ring, in our client's own words:

"My parents, the late Miriam and Natan Solomon, passed away within six years of each other. Both were Holocaust survivors who immigrated to Israel as young adults and worked incredibly hard to build their future and the future of the family they established.

When I had to part with their home and its contents, I found an old gold watch that had stopped working but was unique and stunningly beautiful. Since my parents used to gift us a piece of jewelry for every significant occasion to honor the event and, above all, to leave a keepsake – the idea blossomed to use the watch to design a family ring for the women of our family, a ring that would symbolize the interwoven bond between us.

Thus, 'The Ring Project' was born, connecting our family's past, present, and future. The unique spirit of my youngest daughter, Maya, is what pushed us forward, created the special connection with Sarah, and conceived the idea for a ring whose central motif is roots and branches. The roots symbolize stability and belonging, and the connection to Grandma and Grandpa—to the place they came from and the place where they parted from us. The branches symbolize the personal growth of each of us, continuity and the future, and the unbreakable bond between us. The diamond in the center symbolizes strength, power, abundance, courage, purity, and loyalty.

I wish for all of us that our family togetherness will be preserved forever, in wholeness and in health."
